Ares

Ares is the god of war in Greek mythology, the son of Zeus and Herawho was often depicted as violent and quick-tempered who portrayed the brutal and violent side of war. He was also a lover of Aphrodite with whom he had children Harmonia, Eros, PhobosDeimos, Adrestia, and Anteros. His name is often associated with Greek arē meaning “bane, ruin” or from Greek ara meaning “prayer”, “vow”, and “curse”. It may even be linked to Greek arsen meaning “male”, all of which may derive from a PIE source.
