Emer is the name of the wife of Cúchulainn in Irish mythology (a legendary hero in Irish myth) said to possess the six gifts of womanhood: beauty, a gentle voice, sweet speech, needlework, wisdom, and chastity. Her name means “swift” from Irish eimh.
