Female, Hebrew, Japanese, Proto-Indo-European, Virtues/Attributes

Toryanne is an English female name, a combination of Tory and Anne, which comes from Hebrew meaning “favor, grace”; Tory could be a variant of Tori, used as a nickname for Victoria meaning “victor, conqueror”; Tori  is also a Japanese word meaning “bird”. Tory was also the name of a political party in Great Britain, referring to the Conservative party. The ward comes from Irish tóraighe meaning “pursuer” via Old Irish tóir (pursuit, chase; hunt; keenness, interest) derived from a PIE root word.
