Alethea is an English female name, coined from Ancient Greek aletheia meaning “truth, true”, made up of negative prefix a- (not) and lethe (forgetfulness, oblivion) derived from PIE root word *leh₂- (to be hidden, to be covered). In Greek mythology, Aletheia is a daemon (spirit, personification) of truth.
