Male

Avtandil

Avtandil is a Georgian male name created by Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli (1160-1220) for his 12th century epic poem The Knight in the Panther’s Skin. The name is composed of Persian aftab آفتاب (sunshine) and del دل (heart) so the name means “sunshine heart”; however I’ve seen many sites list it as meaning “heart of the motherland” so it’s possible that “sunshine heart” might roughly translate to “heart of the motherland”.

Origin: Persian

Meaning: “sunshine heart” or essentially “heart of the motherland”

Usage: Georgian

Nicknames: Avto (Georgian)

Avtandil- ავთანდილ (Georgian)
